The next few lessons

Hi there year 9. Well I hope that you have finished your NCEA year 11 assessment and you have been able to get an EXCELLENCE level for it. I want you to spend some time REFLECTING on the following things:

1) This year. What have been the major things that you have learned about yourself as a a learner?
2) What personal goals can you set yourself for learning next year?
3) With NCEA assessments like the one you did, what do you need to do to get EXCELLENCE?
4) Looking at the LEARNING SKILLS SHEET, which skills have you developed in this course and how have you developed them?
5) What LEARNING SKILLS do you need to improve on? How will you do this?
6) Reflect on this course (L2L) and tell me the W.W.W and E.B.I.

I would like you to write a script, record your views and post your video on your blog for others to comment on. You might want to record it as a group OR perhaps you can think of another way to reflect?

Learning Logbooks

Learning logbooks are something that I have been trialing for sometime. Instead of re-inventing the wheel, I have tried to adapt the learning dispositions in Guy Claxton Building Learning Power framework into a managable resource for students to reflect on their learning. However, the opportunity to reflect often seems forced and sometimes far too teacher led. Looking at the clip above (this is gonna test my newfound blogging skills), it throws some light on a new ways for students to explore their learning and a way for me as a teacher to look at what happens in my classroom.

erm hello

Sometimes you just have to take the plunge and try something new. I have spent sometime thinking about doing this and now I have sometime (like 5 mins), I am going to try and use this resource as a tool to improve my teaching in someway, don't know how yet, so lets call this an experiment.
